Edwards Takes the LEED
Edwards is committed to delivering the latest green building technologies and services to their clients. They employ a team of LEED Accredited Professionals (AP) who understand the process and can guide our clients from project inception to a certified project. These LEED AP’s ensure each design element is evaluated for potential Green-Building efficiency during construction as well as the subsequence maintenance of the facility over the life of the building.
Edwards is a member of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) and currently has a LEED AP sitting on the board of the USGBC-Heart of Florida Chapter. This proactive approach to the LEED/Green-Building directive will ensure Edwards stays at the cutting edge of any industry changes and the introduction of new “Green” technology.
What is LEED/Green-Building?
USGBC LEED Rating System
The United States Green Building Council (USGBC) has established the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) which is a Green Building Rating System that is nationally accepted as the benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. LEED provides owners and operators with the tools they need to have an immediate and measurable impact on their buildings performance. LEED promotes a whole building approach by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.
Project Certification
LEED certification provides independent, third-party verification that a building project is environmentally responsible, profitable and a healthy place to live and work.
There are both environmental and financial benefits to earning LEED certification.
LEED certified buildings:
- Lower operating cost and increase asset value.
- Reduce waste sent to landfills.
- Conserve energy and water.
- Healthier and safer for occupants.
- Reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions.
- Qualify for tax rebates, zoning allowances and other incentives in hundreds of cities.
LEED Professional Accreditation
LEED Professional Accreditation distinguishes building professionals with the knowledge and skills to successfully steward the LEED certification process. LEED Accredited Professionals (LEED AP’s) have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and familiarity with LEED requirements, resources and processes.
